Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing)

The Electricity At Work Regulations (EAW) came into force in 1989.  These regulations place legal onus on every employer where Portable Electrical Appliances are used to ensure they are in a safe working order, to prevent injury or death.

Portable Electrical Appliances are interpreted as any item which plugs into a socket, covering such items as kettles, white goods, vacuum cleaners, power tools through to business equipment.

All appliances must be regularly maintained by inspection and or testing and, in order to prove this has been carried out, full records are recommended to be kept.  Our records are fully computerized and kept in our main computer database.

This sticker is valid for up to a year, so you know that you and your company are sufficiently covered for a substantial amount of time. LEGISLATION

If you are a business owner, a landlord, a public service provider or an employer the law requires you to take steps to ensure any electrical equipment you provide is safe to use. Here we’ll summarize the legislation as it currently stands. The legislation of specific relevance to electrical maintenance is:

• The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
• The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999
• The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
• The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992
• The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998

Testing can be carried out on 110v, 240v portable appliances and machinery.

​Each appliance will have a sticker for pass/fail this test lasts for 1 year.

Upon completion you will be issued full certificate.
